Forest Floor

Grand mountain viewpoints, broad blue lakes, and swift-flowing waterfalls are beautiful scenes, and who doesn't enjoy seeing Nature's grandeur on the wide screen? But I also love to see her put on a show at the nearby, personal level. Walking in a forest, with a heady blend of aromas from pine and peat and earth, small, hushed sounds of chipmunks rummaging nearby, the gossip of birds overhead, and boughs waving solemnly as they beckon to the wind, I feel immersed in the grandeur of Nature within my grasp. Frequently I look down at the treasures she has placed all around the floor. It might at first seem chaotic, but when examined more closely, it becomes another of her masterworks of art, carefully arranged to please the eye.

When out in Nature, the view beneath one's feet can be as filled with beauty and wonder as the view from a mountaintop.
